Heute ist der Tag! // Today is the day!

Having slept last night all snug in our beds,
while visions of schnitzel and Fussball danced in our heads,
our packing and waiting is finally done,
and now all that is left is the autobahn, castles, currywurst & fun!

Germany, here we come!

Today is the day we've been anxiously awaiting... as of 10:20 pm tonight we will officially be on our way! Let's start our journey off right, with a prayer of gratitude for the opportunity before us and for safety while we travel:

Dear Lord,
We come to you today in gratitude for all of our many blessings,
especially for the opportunity we have to travel with friends and family to a new part of the world.
We ask for your protection as we travel- please keep us and our families safe over the next three weeks.
Additionally, we ask for the grace of your Holy Spirit to bless us with the gifts of patience and understanding, as we encounter a people and culture different from our own. We pray for the ability to strengthen current relationships and build strong new friendships, and for the ability to better understand, appreciate and love the world which you have created.
We ask this in your name,
Amen.

Here are some of the things we are looking forward to on our trip:
- World Cup soccer games and seeing how big a role soccer plays in Germany
- being in a country with such a longer history than ours in the U.S.
- seeing castles and historical sites
- trying new foods
- appreciating different ways Germans do things and solve problems
- meeting our host families and host students
- speaking and learning more German!

Wish us luck!
Alles Gute,
Frau & Herr Stall & the JC German Exchange Group
